February 2023: GYSR joins Passage Labs
🥳 GYSR joined Passage Labs, a software company specializing in web3 community infrastructure and modern data solutions. The Passage vision is to enable brands to transform their consumer relationships into valuable, next-generation membership and loyalty programs. Passage develops leading capabilities to support businesses that want to experiment, explore, and extend into web3, the metaverse, AI and beyond. The move, which was a year in the making, expanded the reach of both GYSR and Passage protocols and allows ecosystem projects and communities to deploy comprehensive and full-spectrum rewards, loyalty, membership, and incentive programs.
Under the Passage umbrella, GYSR joins some of the industry’s most cutting-edge membership products, including Tollbooth - a subscription membership service, Fuze - a web3 CDP and modern commercial data solution, Freestyle - a highly configurable NFT builder, Customs - a royalty & NFT metadata verifier, and DNA - an API to manage dynamic-capable NFTs.

June 2023: GYSR v3 officially launches
🚢 GYSR v3 officially launched! GYSR v3 is the latest major release, delivering 9 new and upgraded modules to bring the mechanism count up to 20, while also introducing key upgrades to the core incentives protocol and a large expansion to the fee system. All considered, this means new powerful capabilities, more flexibility, better interoperability, more use cases, and improved tokenomics.
The v3 release featured a large upgrade to the GYSR webapp to provide a user-friendly, clean, and intuitive interface to the newest version of the core protocol. This allows projects to configure, launch, and manage their own incentive mechanisms with zero code. The webapp also includes a set of fully pre-built and tailored interfaces to let end users interact with some of the most popular mechanisms and patterns.
Some of the exciting and highlighted new mechanisms are the Stream (a tool for trustless continuous payments), the Waterfall (a flexible staking pool that allows users to stake an ERC20 or ERC721 and earn multiple token rewards), and the Reservoir (autonomous multi-market bond sales to exchange assets)
Additionally, v3 brought important upgrades to the core protocol contracts, improving on flexibility, extensibility, and interoperability. On the tokenomics side, this included a large set of changes to protocol fee system, governance process, and staking mechanics.
Of course, the v3 deployment was accompanied by our usual thorough testing and auditing processes - including an automated test suite that grew to 3,048 test cases and a full audit of the v3 smart contracts by Dedaub.
As a reminder, GYSR uses a modular pool architecture where the staking logic and reward logic are each contained within a swappable building block. This means that the 9 new and upgraded modules shipped with v3, allow for a total of 20 possible unique incentive mechanisms.
Ecosystem, events, & partnerships
All year long, the Passage team continued to push technology adoption, build new relationships across the ecosystem, and strengthen partnerships.
Podcasts, twitter spaces, and virtual meetups
🎙️ Devin joined The Rollup for their special podcast to discuss all things GYSR v3 - improvements to protocol design, tokenomics, and the partnership with Passage. Take a listen here:
Also, Passage Labs was honored to join the all day event from The Rollup to celebrate their 100th episode. Devin, Meral, and Zac discussed the web3 “Roadmap to Mass Adoption” with a stacked lineup of other project founders.
We also joined Optimism Demo Day in August to showcase v3 capabilities, discuss practical use cases, and engage with the broader Optimism ecosystem.
More recently, we joined The Standard in September to celebrate International DeFi Day, show off some GYSR tech, and vibe with the community there.
Conferences
In April, the combined GYSR and Passage team traveled out to Austin for Consensus 2023, the world’s largest, longest-running and most influential gathering that brings together all sides of crypto, blockchain and Web3. Fun fact: The NFT conference pass at Consensus 2023 was powered by Passage! Learn more about it here!
In early March, the team traveled out to Denver for the annual flagship conference. We had a really good productive week full of great conversations, tons of business development, brainstorming cool new ideas, and making new friends. 💡
More recently, the team has been spotted at Advertising Week NY 2023, where Meral hosted a conversation with Kenzi Inman from the NBA titled “Exploring the Vision of Live Events: How the NBA is Driving Loyalty with Web3”. In between, you might have also spotted Meral at the Metaverse Summit 2023 in Los Angeles in October - hard to keep up with her these days!
Partnerships and integrations
This past year, we doubled down on our existing partnerships and integrations, such as Immunefi, Snapshot, UMA, Arrakis, Good Minds, and POAP.
We expanded our integration with Snapshot from one to three strategies; we were able to drive strong adoption of the solution for Uniswap v3 liquidity mining with Arrakis; and we hardened the pattern with Outcome (UMA) for KPI options streaming.
To spotlight a new one - GYSR was awarded an ecosystem grant by the Layer2DAO incubator program to support the development of new incentive mechanisms for the L2 ecosystem and to promote adoption of GYSR on Optimism.
Some quick alpha: stay tuned for an upcoming partnership announcement about an exciting new technical integration 👀
