Pool party
In the past month, we have had 24 new pools deployed on the GYSR platform! This includes 4 pools on mainnet, 19 on Polygon, and 1 on Optimism.. Of these new pools, 7 were Fountains, 8 were Geysers, and 9 were Aquariums. NFT staking has become an increasingly popular use case on Polygon, with 38 Aquariums now deployed in total since we launched the capability in Q1 of this year.
To shout out some more specific updates - AthleteX funded 10+ new pools to generate AMM liquidity for their athlete performance tokens.
Another cool example of innovation with GYSR: Down, a social token experiment by artist BruceTheGoose, has launched an incentive program for LPs of their Balancer pool.
Integrations
DeBank added tracking support for GYSR pools on Polygon!
Dework
Are you one of many GYSR supporters who wish there was an easier way to directly contribute to the success of the project? Well wonder no more, because GYSR is now on Dework! Dework is a Web3-native project management tool with token payments, credentialing, and bounties 🤑. This allows us to post tasks and other initiatives for contributors to pick up on our public board here:
We’ll also be sharing new tasks as they go up on the board via Discord so be sure to join our Discord server if you haven’t already.
While we’ve started out with a few basic asks around bizdev, marketing material, and development tasks, we’d love to know what you think as we look to further engage the decentralized community and enable more contributors! The Dework board provides a “Community Suggestions'' feature for anyone to add suggestions they have for the project, as well as discuss and upvote other suggestions on the board - who knows, the best suggestions might even be then turned into tasks with a bounty on them 😉
Optimism proposal
As we mentioned in the last update, GYSR is officially live on Optimism! In June, we submitted a proposal for an Optimism ecosystem grant to incentivize the growth and adoption of GYSR on Optimism. We want to encourage projects to use GYSR in order to accelerate development speed, improve safety and security, and stay focused on their core tech.
Like many of the proposals, we did not receive approval in the first round. However, we’ve incorporated the valuable feedback we’ve received from the community and recently posted our revised proposal here - please take a look, let us know what you think, and feel free to toss some weight behind it on our behalf 🙏
Milestones 🎯
In July, we hit 450 total pools deployed on the GYSR platform. We’re also now over 5,300 total GYSR users! Here’s a fun visual of the users we’ve added to our ecosystem each month:
💡Did you know? 56% of projects that create a pool using GYSR come back to either create additional pools or replenish those initial pools. Looking at retention rates from the end user perspective:
46% of users come back to stake multiple times
26% of users go on to stake in other pools (Discover page FTW!)
NFT NYC
At this year’s NFT NYC, we had some great discussions on tooling, DeFi + NFTs, and more. We felt that there was a very different tone here from last year in that it was more builder-first. To us, this is a good indication of where this space is headed in the long run.
Webapp releases
Over the past month, we’ve been hard at work behind the scenes with our webapp. Namely, we’ve been refactoring to improve flexibility and extensibility for upcoming new modules (see core contract updates below 👀). Not only that, but we’ve been working to harden the webapp and improve efficiency too!
Core contract updates
We have made a lot of progress on core protocol development since our last update. We are currently working on 5 new modules, along with upgrades to existing modules and general improvements to the pool architecture. These changes will bring our total possible mechanisms from 4 -> 20 and greatly improve interoperability with third party DeFi systems.
So far, we have completed 3 out of 5 new modules (🚨alpha🚨: one of them is the new ERC20LinearRewardsModule) - stay tuned for more announcements on this coming soon.
EIP-4987
The discussion on a “held token standard”, started and driven by our team, has officially moved to In Review! Titled “EIP-4987”, this proposal defines a lightweight interface for contracts to expose functional ownership and balances of held tokens. The goal is to improve interoperability across systems, especially between DeFi + NFT mechanisms.
We would welcome any feedback! You can read more and engage here.
Hiring 🌱
GYSR is growing! We are looking to involve more contributors for smart contract development, frontend development, biz dev, marketing, and more! In addition to the Dework launch, we have already brought on a few more folks in the past month for both development and operations.
Speaking of operations - Alex Jebb recently joined GYSR as our Head of Operations. He will focus on streamlining and scaling our project operations while also pitching in with business development, strategy, communications, and wherever else he's needed!
Jebb is currently a Manager in Accenture's Strategy & Consulting practice, focused on the Product Management side of large-scale system implementations and the Growth & Strategy of accounts. He is also an Assistant Track & Field Coach at Johns Hopkins University, so feel free to chat him up about the recent World Champs! You can check out more of his background here.
We are thrilled to have Jebb on board and can't wait to see where he takes this role!
If you are interested, please reach out! We have a lot of building to do 🛠️
As always, thanks to our community for all the great support, and please feel free to reach out with any feedback, questions, or ideas.
